Just wanted to share a special clip from the Herd In Iceland footage. Our editor Michelle Mizner at Field Work Media put this together, along with an original score by Joshua Camp. A bit of this will be in the final film, but for now – we hope you enjoy these words of wisdom from Guðmundur Guðmundsson.

We started working on this project nearly two years ago, which is why we are so happy to present the trailer for our film! The piece is a rollicking good time, edited by the incredible Michelle Mizner with original music by the talented Joshua Camp. Filming in Iceland over the last 2 falls has been the most incredible experience, and has motivated us to go full-time with our filmmaking endeavors.
We are reaching out to those who believe nature, beauty, adventure, and storytelling are necessary elements to a thoughtful life. We’re asking for your support to fund the post-production of the film, so please make a donation at any level through our KICKSTARTER page. We have wonderful rewards, such as filmmaking workshops, gear from 66 North, archival prints, signed copies of the DVD, and more!

Harper’s, one of our favorite magazines, has included Herd in its April 2012 issue! Pick up a copy and support this amazing non-profit magazine, which began publishing in 1850. Special thanks to Alyssa Coppelman at Harper’s.

Production has ended on Herd, and we’re steadily prepping the footage for our editor. Here are a few frames from the final roundup of the season. We will be adding 4×5 and still images over the next few days, so keep checking in as we post photos to the portfolio. We’ve replaced our horses with yellow cabs, our roundups with subway turnstiles, and majestic mountains with a concrete skyline, but we are happy to be home in NYC.

Herd’s been doing a lot of driving the last few days, here are some shots from our road trip.

We’ve finished our first week of production and have met many wonderful people that continue to share their lives with us as we follow them through fields, mountains, barns, and farmhouses. Herd’s second week will be full of interviews, round-ups, and a tölt exhibition.

After a few days in the south, we’ve returned to our base outside of Blönduós. The two regions are very different, but the people are equally dedicated to their work with the herds. We filmed the animals and herders as they traveled across the moonscape, and met up with a group that had been out collecting sheep for six days.

We made our way down south this week. The landscape is completely different from The North, and from the rest of planet Earth. Here’s a clip from the lava fields, where a small group of herders were collecting sheep.

After a few successful days of shooting in the north, we’re heading down south for a change of scenery. Here’s a clip of Frosti collecting a stallion at Geitaskarð Farm.
